Jigs for bait jigging and slow jigging

A new assassin for cherry salmon jigging The new 130g SALTIGA Jive Chopper!

Jigs supervised by Kazunari Shimizu, a field staff member of Daiwa SALTIGA, are being released in the spring of 2024. One is a long type Swim Chopper and the other is a short type Jive Chopper. This fall, a new 130 g model of the Jive Chopper was released, and in November, two colors that are popular among anglers targeting cherry salmon were added, so we would like to focus on them again.

A new assassin for cherry salmon jigging The new 130g SALTIGA Jive Chopper!

Mr. Shimizu is the owner of Point Fishing Gear and the captain of a jigging boat. He is involved in the development of Daiwa products used for slow jigging, and his belief in manufacturing products is that they should be products that do not place a burden on the angler’s body and mind. If the burden is reduced, the angler can concentrate better, which leads to better fishing results. If anglers catch more fish, they will like fishing more. It is this kind of thinking that led to the development of tackle and lures. For example, when Mr. Shimizu supervised the development of slow jigging rods, he asked himself where his hand would feel pain after holding the rod for three hours, and what he could do to alleviate the pain. The development of these rods was based on the real voices from the field.

Mr. Shimizu has repeatedly sharpened and supervised the development of the Soltiga Jive Chopper, a short-type jig for bait jigging. This fall, a 130 g model was added to this jig for jigging for cherry salmon and bait jigging for bluefish in coastal waters.

Mr. Shimizu is the boatman and fishing tackle store owner of the jigging boat that is closest to the voice of the field.

Noiseless action is the goal

There are various types of jigs, but the ideal jig for Mr. Shimizu, who believes that “products that do not burden the angler’s body and mind” is the core of development, is one that is easy to handle, even when used in poor tide conditions.

The aim of head-balanced or center-balanced jigs is to attract fish by making them run on their own, so the distance and time taken to move the jig are long. This makes it necessary to wait for a longer period of time. Also, since the fall is slower, depending on the conditions, some fish may ignore the long fall.

The jib chopper is rear-balanced so that the jig responds linearly to the jerk input, and because it takes less time to run on its own, the transition to the next action can be made quickly. This leads to the “noiseless pulling feeling and jig movement” that Mr. Shimizu wanted to realize.

The previous lineup ranged from 150 to 400 g, but a new 130 g jig has been added to the lineup.

Quick Switchback Action Created by Reducing Noise

Reducing noise means suppressing excess dart and flapping motion. Shimizu has repeatedly tested jigs and reduced noise by adding an arched edge to the edge of the jig. He then made the jig transition easily from the fall to the jerk. This allows the angler to create a quick-switch back action that drives the target fish crazy and turns on its predatory instincts.

The quick-switch back action can be used to catch any target. And it is also an effective action for cherry salmon, a popular offshore target in recent years, leading to the release this fall of a 130g version that is easy to use for jigging for cherry salmon. The color lineup includes ML Black Purple Glow and ML Lime Green Black for all sizes, in response to strong demand from anglers targeting cherry salmon in particular. We hope you will try the new Jive Chopper, which now has a wider range of options.

The shape of the jig, supervised by Mr. Shimizu, allows for a quick-switch back action that does not give the target an opportunity to think, but rather allows the target to bite with a change in action.

Mr. Shimizu shaved the jig on the boat to create this side edge action. The side edges are designed to provide a good jerking action and to transmit signals clearly to the angler in the water.

The new design eye symbolizes a new way of thinking about jigs. This is the series that Mr. Shimizu has put his heart and soul into.
