For targeting large yellowtail and greater amberjack!

Ripple Fisher’s popular jigging rod series Three New Models Added to the SELFISH Series

SELFISH jigging rods are popular for their light weight and sharp feel. 2 spinning models and 1 bait model will be added in 2025. The three models are designed to handle large-sized yellowtail and greater amberjack. What kind of performance do they have? All of these models are expected to be very active.

Ripple Fisher’s popular jigging rod series Three New Models Added to the SELFISH Series

SELFISH is composed of three categories

Ripple Fisher’s jigging rod “SELFISH” is popular among anglers targeting large fish and has a proven track record. Until now, the rod has been offered in two categories: “SEB/Sensitive Bait,” which excels at technical manipulation, and “NS/Natural Swim,” which is good at moving jigs naturally and capturing shallow areas and slanting pulls. A new category, “AJ / Aggressive Jerk,” has been added for 2025. This new category is characterized by the use of a highly responsive blank, which allows anglers to better understand what is going on in the water, and by the high maneuverability of the jig. This series allows anglers to freely manipulate strong and weak actions, such as static and dynamic, to lead their target fish to prey. Two spinning models have been added to the AJ series, and a bait model to the SEB series. Until now, Ripple Fisher has recommended the Ocean Arrow series for fishing against large fish, which combines torque and lifting power, in order to face large fish at the edge of roots and reefs. However, the need for a rod that can satisfy all three of these elements was discovered, and development was initiated on the SELFISH series as a new product for 2025, resulting in the introduction of the three new models. These models were created to respond to the latest jigging series, which has been complicatedly subdivided.

AJ Series

The AJ series, as the name implies, specializes in aggressive jerking. This model is designed to easily produce a sharp sliding action, allowing anglers to fully enjoy the fun of high-pitched jigging. This series is the toughest among the SELFISH series, and its tension is even extended to the tip section, which allows it to provide high response performance and to move heavy jigs firmly in deep areas and in situations with complicated tides and strong pressure.

SELFISH AJ 604
Spinning model with a flexible tip and firm butt to enhance jig maneuverability and to handle strong pulls of large fish and aggressive fighting at the edge of roots and fish reefs. Blank with strong rebound action, good at vertical jerking and sliding jerking of sharp jigs, and capable of catching reaction bites by high-speed jerking Furthermore, it features less fatigue even when repeatedly jerking in deep water or areas with fast currents. With a jig 150-230g, PE max. 4, and max. drag 7kg, it is light and delicate looking, yet it can handle large yellowtail and greater amberjack fish well.

SELFISH AJ 5105
Highly resilient model specialized for jigging in deep areas with fast currents and depths of 100m or more, using heavy jigs. The short length of 5’10” gives the angler a quick feel and high hooking performance in deep water. Designed with a maximum drag of 10 kg, this model is capable of stable power fighting with its strong butt power.

SELFISH SEB 615
One of the concepts of SELFISH, which will be added in 2025, is to attack deep areas. The AJ series, which can produce speedy jig action, was introduced for this purpose, and the SELFISH SEB 615, a bait model for deep area fishing, is also included in the SEB series lineup. This model can be used for various methods such as pinpointing deep areas, high-speed one-pitch jerking and sliding action, short pitch jig operation and action involving a fall to get the lure to bite, etc. The SEB series has a lower blank tension than the AJ series. The SEB series is designed to have a milder rod blank than the AJ series to improve tip tracking performance. The rod’s waist serves as the fulcrum of action, making it easy to draw out high resilience of the butt section and to insert jig action, as well as preventing anglers from exhausting their strength during continuous jerking in deep jigging. With a maximum drag capacity of 10 kg, it can handle even large fish.
