The Ocean Field Series is designed with the hope that everyone will enjoy using it.
Ocean Field Series

The use of high-performance materials for blanks and guides makes a rod a good product, but that does not necessarily mean that it is easy to use or that it catches fish well. In fact, I myself feel that it is important to understand the performance of the rod, and even though I have been using inexpensive jigging rods and tilefish rods for more than 10 years, I still have my favorite models, and have actually caught many big fish with them. These rods are not high-end rods, but they are still in use because I know how far the rod can withstand, how to make the ideal jerk, how to get a bite more easily, and when to use the rod. There are a surprisingly large number of such rods. Expensive rods are not always better.

Oceanfield is one of such rods. It is a series of rods from Abu Garcia that is affordable for beginners who want to try offshore fishing, and has a performance that satisfies even those who are already offshore fishermen. The previous models were released in different styles around 2018, and in 2024, they were renewed with new specifications. The JIGGING and LIGHT JIGGING are the newest additions to the Abu Garcia rod series. And the Tairubber model will be introduced in 2025.

What has changed in this renewal? First of all, the top guides of all models have been changed to Fuji’s SIC. Furthermore, while the previous model used Fuji’s New Concept guides, this model uses KR Concept guides. This guide change allows for more secure interactions and also reduces thread tangling in the guides. In addition, Fuji’s reel seat is carefully selected for each model, and the blank is wrapped with ABU’s proprietary X carbon wrapping, in which the carbon tape is tightened in an X shape from diagonal directions (45° and 135°). This improves torque and makes the blank more resistant to twisting. It is also lighter than the previous model. The result is an improved product that is even easier to use.

In the ocean field before this new product, jigging, light jigging, super light jigging, tilefish, boat sea bass, Spanish mackerel casting, boat rock, hairtail jigging, vertical contact (bachicon, squid metal, ultra light tie-laba), sea bass jigging Tip Run, Offshore Casting, etc. Various models will be developed in the future with improved specifications.

OCEAN FIELD Tairubber has four models!

First, we would like to introduce the tie rubber model, which will be newly released in 2025. Tairubber models will come in three bait-type models and one spinning-type model. The lengths of all models are 6 feet 10 inches, which makes it easy to pull the tilefish at a constant speed, even when the boat is moving up and down due to waves, etc. The bait models are available in three power lineups: LS-80, MLS-100, and MS-140. The LS-80 can be used for vertical fishing at weights of 40 to 120 g and dotella at weights of 40 to 180 g. The MLS-100 can be used for vertical fishing at weights of 40 to 140 g and dotella at weights of 40 to 200 g. The MS-140 can be used for vertical fishing at weights of 45 to 200 g and dotella at weights of 45 to 300 g. The MLS-100 can be used for vertical fishing at weights of 45 to 200 g and dotella at weights of 45 to 300 g. The spinning model can also be used for casting tilefish in shallow water to search widely. The maximum casting weight is 60g, which corresponds to 20 to 80g for vertical fishing and 20 to 120g for dotella fishing. All models are two-piece, making them highly portable. The lineup is suitable for general tie-laba games throughout Japan.

While being in an affordable price range, they are packed with attention to detail to make them easy to use. This is the reason why not only beginners but also experienced anglers are satisfied with this product.

OCEAN FIELD LIGHT JIGGING for small bluefish in coastal waters

The LIGHT JIGGING model was launched in September 2024. One spinning model and one bait model, each with specifications optimized for bluefish in coastal waters, are now available. with optimal power for jigs weighing 80 to 100g (MAX 120g), the spinning model can be used for super light jigging with jigs weighing 60g thanks to its delicate tip. The bait model is equipped with an exquisite tapered action that can handle both fast one-pitch lures and slow lures. Both models are said to be powerful enough to handle unexpectedly large fish. The best fish species to target are bonito, bigeye tuna, sea bream, walasa, shogo (small yellowtail), small flatfish, and flounder. It can also handle Spanish mackerel and sago shad.

The grip is designed to match light jigging. Easy to catch a bite without getting tired.

OCEAN FIELD JIGGING for good-sized bluefish and deep sea fishing

Jigging models were released simultaneously with light jigging models in 2024. The lineup includes two spinning models and two bait models. Targets are good-sized and large bluefish. The main target is 10kg-class trophy fish in inshore waters, with specifications for 20kg-class fish. It can also be used for jigging in deep water with heavy metal jigs. Incidentally, both spinning and bait models are lined up, with one model mainly for 200 g jigs and the other for 300 g jigs.

The details of each model are as follows: The spinning OFJS-60-MAX200 model supports up to 200 g jigs while the spinning OFJS-60-MAX200 model mainly uses 150 g jigs. This model can be used for a wide range of applications, including jerking, one pitch, and diagonal pulling after casting. Another spinning model, OFJS-60-MAX300, handles mainly 200g jigs up to 300g. It is equipped with butt power to firmly catch the pull of large fish while responding to various jerking motions. The guides are all double-footed, making it a model that can be used with large fish with confidence.

The bait model OFJC-62-MAX200 can handle mainly 150g jigs up to 200g. This model is designed for slow jigging and mid- to deep-sea jigging for deep-sea fishing, and uses a tubular blank that is tenacious and supple. The blank characteristics make this model highly sensitive and enjoyable to bend after hooking.
