Can be used for both jigging and casting!

For offshore, inshore and monster fish alike! Largest model in the series designed for large fish. ELAN SUPER WIDE POWER

The ELAN series of Tail Walk bait reels has been developed in various models as reels specialising in SW fishing. Models designed for use with thick lines and casting models designed for use with big baits and thick lines have also been released, with the Super Wide Power model being the largest model to date. In September 2024, a model with a gear ratio of 8.1:1 was introduced to further broaden the range of fishing. The performance and specifications are explained here.

For offshore, inshore and monster fish alike! Largest model in the series designed for large fish. ELAN SUPER WIDE POWER

Bait reel performance required for targeting large fish

Many anglers dream of catching bigger fish, whether offshore or inshore. Catching such fish requires a strong line and a reel powerful enough to hold that line. This is why Tailwalk has developed the new Elan Super Wide Power reel.

When targeting large fish for both baitcasting and bait jigging, a reel with line power according to the size of the fish and line capacity to match the movement of the fish after it hits is required. Casting performance is important when targeting by casting. The same can be said for targeting monster fish overseas. In addition, you need a drag to stop the fish when it hits, and the power to reel it in. When targeting such large fish with a bait reel, the round reel immediately comes to mind. However, many round reels are heavy and are more difficult to grip when palming than low-profile models. This is where the Elan Super Wide Power comes in.

With its low-profile design, the Elan Super Wide Power was introduced as a model for targeting larger fish. A model with an even faster gear ratio will be available in September 2024!

Sufficient thread capacity and power.

First of all, the Elan Super Wide Power is the largest model in the series. The Super Wide Power model has been used for jigging, shore jigging and monster fishing and has faced monster fish from all over the world, but the Super Wide Power model has been further increased in size and evolution. Firstly, the spool is equipped with a large diameter 43 mm deep groove spool with a line capacity of 270 m PE No. 4. The drive gear diameter is larger, providing more power and higher speed. The first model with a gear ratio of 7.1:1 was developed as a model for quick jerking to appeal to large fish and for long jerking when casting. Now, a model with a gear ratio of 8.1:1 has been added to the range, which allows anglers to reel in a greater amount of fish per handle turn.

As the Super Wide Power model is designed for large fish, its drag power is also an important feature to look out for. It has a maximum drag capacity of 14 kg. Furthermore, the centre main frame and gear side plates are made of an all-die-cast body (the perming side body is made of graphite), completed in pursuit of strength and precision. This power will be a strong ally for anglers, whether jigging or casting.

The drag is an astonishing 14 kg max. Smooth sliding action is also pursued to cope well with large fish.

Single power handle adjustable to 75 mm or 90 mm for reeling in line even when using heavy jigs against large fish. Also enclosed is a 120 mm duralumin double handle for easy use in cast and retrieve fishing. This is appreciated.

Optimum performance for casting.

And casting performance is important when using this reel for casting, but this reel is equipped with a 6-point centrifugal brake system (dial type), which allows you to cast both light and heavy plugs securely and trouble-free. In addition, the large diameter of 43 mm allows for greater casting distance. While spinning reels are the main type of reel used in salt casting games, bait reels have the advantage that they have more torque, and their structure allows for a higher tempo in games where you have to cast continuously. Boat seabass anglers have been using bait reels for a long time, but in recent years the use of bait reels has become more common due to the big baits in the white crucian carp pattern. Furthermore, an increasing number of anglers are using baitcasting rods to target GT and sunfish, both offshore and inshore. The baitcasting game in the salt world is expected to continue to evolve in the future, and the Elan Super Wide Power is designed for such fishing.

Designed to work in tandem with the line released from the spool and the level winder to minimise damage to the line when casting.

Line-up of different gear ratios. How to use them.

The line-up consists of the 71BR/71BL and the new 81BR/81BL, the difference between the two being the gear ratio, with the 71 being 95 cm per handle turn and the 81 being 105 cm per handle turn. Line capacities for both are 380m PE No. 3, 270m No. 4, 190m No. 6 and 130m No. 8. These specifications make it suitable for jigging for big fish at depths of around 150m using No. 3 line. It will also prove suitable for casting for sunfish and GT with No. 4 and above.

Sufficient spooling capacity with thicker lines thanks to the 43 mm wide spool. Enables jigging and baitcasting for large fish on low-pro reels.

According to the explanation on the manufacturer’s website, the 43 mm wide spool allows for long casts, while also accommodating a variety of styles: for 71, the lure can be used for yellowtail, yellowtail, tuna, barramundi, barramundi, Nile perch, alligator gar, northern pike, pirarucu, king salmon, pirarucu, king salmon, pirarucu, king salmon, pirarucu, king salmon and northern pike, Pirarucu, King Salmon, Taimen, Kuei and other compatible species.

The 81 model, on the other hand, has a high-speed design with an extremely large outer diameter drive gear and, like the 71, is said to be compatible with a variety of targets. When competing with large fish, there are many situations where it is important to close the gap in a split second. Also, when there are ups and downs in the waves, it is easier to control the plug in accordance with the ups and downs. It is up to the angler to choose between the versatile 71 and the high-gear 81.

Another attraction of the Elan Super Wide Power is its affordable price. It might be a good idea to buy one and start baitcasting games.

It is useful for both casting and jigging. It is an easy-to-use reel.
