Jointly developed with two expert jigging anglers

A high-response rod that can be used at depths of over 200m to attract jigs with action

The SALTIGA J Revlimit is scheduled to be released by Daiwa this spring. Targets are greater amberjack, sunfish, and tuna. Three models will be released that can handle jigs weighing 400 to 800 g at depths of 150 m or more. Bait jigging experts Kazunari Shimizu and Takahiro Konaka were involved in their development. We would like to explore the development intent of these rods, which focus on the feel of handling heavyweight jigs, rather than focusing on slow lures.

A high-response rod that can be used at depths of over 200m to attract jigs with action

This is not a slow jigging rod!

The Revlimit was developed to overcome the difficult situation of two-tide jigging for anglers. Normally, when there is a double tide, anglers usually avoid it by using “thin line + heavy weight jig” and a slow jigging rod. However, when the target is large, it is difficult to use fine line. If you use a line of a comfortable thickness, it is difficult to give quick action to the jig because the rod tip does not return if the rod is designed for slow jigging action. The Revlimit is a rod designed to provide solid jig action in such situations.

The blank is made of HVF Nanoplus and reinforced with X45 Full Shield to prevent power loss due to torsion during action, hooking, and fighting. The blank is highly resilient, making it a high-response rod capable of handling heavyweight jigs at will.

High-density HVF carbon is used, with the amount of resin reduced to the minimum necessary and the density of carbon fibers increased. This carbon is tightened with a 45° carbon bias cross and the X45 full shield dramatically improves torsional rigidity.

The length of 5.4 feet is the biggest key.

When you want to use a heavy weight jig with a thick line, and want to make it act firmly by turning the tip. The best rod to use in this situation is a stiff model that is extremely short. However, a rod that is too short will not produce action. Rods that do not bend are hard on the angler. If the rod is too short, the angler cannot dodge fish trying to get under the boat without the line rubbing against the bottom of the boat. Revlimit took this into consideration and after repeated testing, came up with a length that was 5.4 feet. The result is a length of 5.4 feet.

All of the released models are 5.4 feet long and come in three different power levels. The jig weights are 400 g for power 4, 400 to 600 g for power 6, and 500 to 800 g for power 8. The above are the basic weights, but the number can be increased or decreased depending on the tidal conditions.

Rods that catch fish and make angling easy for anglers

The Revlimit is not a slow jigging rod. However, in pursuit of sharp jig action and to reduce the angler’s physical burden (a rod that does not bend is a burden on the angler), it incorporates elements of a slow jigging rod. This element is that the emphasis is placed in the middle of the blank. The bending of the rod reduces the load on the angler and, of course, allows the angler to have a momentary pause when the jig is in action. This pause allows the jig to fly.

Placing the emphasis in the middle of the blank may seem simple in terms of expression, but it is by no means easy to create. First of all, guide selection to take full advantage of the blank’s characteristics is important, and the position and shape of the reel seat also have an impact. These were best achieved through repeated testing in the field, leading to the release of the ideal rod.

To take full advantage of the blank’s characteristics, the AGC-C, a double-foot model with carbon guides, was adopted. Without these guides, the “high response” characteristic of the Revlimit could never have been achieved.

Unlike the SALTIGA SJ, the reel seat has been moved 15 mm toward the tip side to allow for side-by-side fishing. The length of the rear grip has been extended to 135 mm to achieve balance.

The ZERO-SEAT Active Hold Trigger is the realization of Mr. Shimizu’s idea of “the best grip is the one that does not tire even when used for a long time.
