The Necessity of Casting Large Bait Reels
In recent years, anglers targeting large fish such as GT, dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, and sunfish from the shore, as well as from embankments and rocky shores, have been increasing. Among these anglers, there are those who have been paying attention to the torque of bait reels and pioneering a new style of fishing. At a time when there were no domestically produced large bait reels for casting, some anglers modified jigging models to make them easier to use for casting. The Blue Heaven MagBrake L80Hi/R and L50Hi/R were developed in response to requests from such anglers, and were released in 2020. These models are equipped with a magnet brake to prevent line problems during casting. The L80 model has a run capacity of 200m for PE No. 10 and 300m for PE No. 8, while the L50 model has a line capacity of 200 for PE No. 8 and 300m for PE No. 6. It can be said that these models have been developed by Studio Ocean Mark based on its belief of “what anglers need. The L105XH and L75XH models are the newest additions to the Blue Heaven MagBrake lineup for 2025.

Blue Heaven MagBrake models L75XH and L105XH with extra high gears, unveiled at various exhibition events in the spring of 2025; the previous Blue Heaven MagBrake L80Hi/R and L50Hi/R models have already proven their capabilities.

An electromagnetic induction magnet brake system with large neodymium magnets is used. Braking force is generated in response to the spool rotation speed. When the field or lure used changes significantly, the braking force can be adjusted by changing the number of magnets installed.
Gear ratio that enables nimble operation of topwater plugs
The main feature of this new model is that it is equipped with extra high gears along with an increase in size. First, the L105 size is equipped with a line capacity of 300 m for No. 10 and 400 m for No. 8, and the L75 size with 300 m for No. 8 and 400 m for No. 6. The L105 model has a gear ratio of 7.1:1 and a take-up of 132 cm per handle revolution, while the L75 has a gear ratio of 7.3:1 and a take-up of 135 cm per handle revolution. The L75 has a gear ratio of 7.3:1 and rewinds as fast as the XG model on a spinning reel, allowing anglers to nimbly manipulate topwater plugs.

Equipped with an extra high gear to provide the same take-up as the XG model of spinning reels. Enables anglers to freely control lure action. Dynamic gear design for highly efficient winding and durability.

The dynamic gear design is an evolution of the mountain module gear that delivers powerful winding efficiency. The gear top shape has a special hob design and artisan tooth surface finish to further improve winding efficiency.
Advantages of Lever Drag
There are two types of drags for bait reels: star drag and lever drag. With star drag, once the initial setting is made, the drag force is always set simply by turning the handle and releasing the clutch. The lever drag reel, on the other hand, sets the drag value with the lever in the fighting position and releases the line by lowering the lever to free the spool. When operating the lure, the lever is returned to the fight position. Although it takes some getting used to operating the lever and the lack of a level winder means that the angler must work the line to wind it evenly onto the spool when winding it up, the big advantage is that the drag force can be changed more precisely in an instant. With star drag, it is difficult to adjust the drag during a fight, and it is difficult to make a precise operation unless you know in advance how many grams you can change with a single click. On the other hand, the lever drag reel allows the angler to quickly change the drag force by operating the lever, and as long as the angler knows how many grams will change at the position of the lever, he can definitely increase or decrease the drag force. If you can control the drag properly, you can stop the fish when you want to stop it, and loosen the drag when the fish is violently attacking just before landing, thus reducing the chance of a fish breaking up.

Lever drag allows instant and precise drag operation. As a result, it reduces the risk of fish catching fish. The drag lever is shaped to have a large arc from the outside with a low height. This design makes it difficult for line that expands during casting to become entangled in the lever even when exposed to crosswinds.
Features of Blue Heaven L75XH and L105XH
First, the L75XH model, but the size is based on the 50-size model to make it easier to hold while perming, and the word spool makes it a 75-size model. The perming side is the same as the 50-size model, and the gear side has the same specifications as the 100 model. The spool is designed with a summing space to reduce line trouble when lures land on the water. The built-in gear is larger than the existing mag-brake model, and the gearbox is stronger, enabling more torquey reeling. The spool is wider than that of the Blue Heaven jigging model, preventing a reduction in casting distance due to the change in winding diameter when casting. A waterproof cover is attached to the spool and a waterproof ring to the drag disc, and a new waterproof system is adopted to boast high waterproofness when winding. This new system makes it even easier to use.
This lever drag large bait reel has potential not only for targeting large fish from shore, but also for casting games for large fish offshore. In many situations, the more torquey winding than bait reels gives anglers an advantage. Why not give it a try with this reel?

The BHL spool, designed specifically for jigging, has been widened to prevent a reduction in casting distance due to a change in the winding diameter when casting. Furthermore, a summing space is provided on the outermost diameter of the spool on the perming side to allow for control during casting and fighting.

Larger bridge (the largest in the Blue Heaven series) is designed to prevent frame contact when the line swells immediately after casting. Minimizes line damage.

A waterproof cover is attached to the spool and a waterproof rubber ring is installed on the drag disk. The new waterproof system boasts high water resistance while maintaining excellent spool-free operation when reeling.

Pinion gear paired with a drive gear with teeth cut according to a new design concept. The two-bearing design of angular contact ball bearings and radial ball bearings, which are resistant to lateral pressure, suppresses 3D shaking of the pinion gear and transmits handle rotation to the spool with strong force.
