ZENAQ has been perfecting its rods with solid technical capabilities based on a corporate culture that refuses to compromise on anything and a clear concept. The rod manufacturer with fans all over the world has launched two new models of SINPAA, yellowtail casting rods, in the spring of 2025. We explain what the new models are like.

ZENAQ NEW SINPAA Two new models are now available! Explains what kind of models they are!

Rods that look 10 years into the future

In 2021, the SINPAA83 HIRAMASA rod debuted, a rod designed to take casting performance, lure handling, and fighting to the extreme in order to catch yellowtail. This model can make a diving pencil swim softly and naturally no matter who uses it, and is specially designed to confront and catch fish over 20 kg. It has a strong butt power and a beautiful bend curve for both medium-sized and large yellowtail, and has the performance to put pressure on the fish that hit it and control its movement. It is a rod that has been completed after 4 years from its conception. It took 4 years from its conception to completion with the aim of making it “a rod that will be good 5 or 10 years from now.

In 2025, SINPAA will introduce two new models: the SC81-80G HIRAMASA, a new type of SINPAA, and the SC83-95G HIRAMASA, a further evolution of the SC81-80G HIRAMASA. Both models, like their predecessors, pursue performance in casting, lure manipulation, and fighting. In the yellowtail game, it is important not to let the plug miss dive. For this reason, we pursued a tip action that directly transmits delicate manipulations to the lure. The butt is taut and strong, but also flexible enough to respond to a fish’s sudden plunge. The model is designed for casting accuracy and long casting performance to accurately approach the target point, and for comfort when casting for long periods of time. The model has already achieved a large number of catches of large yellowtail during the testing phase.

Both models are sharp and easy to swing even in a headwind. Both models are equipped with butt power to catch large fish, flexibility to bend and apply pressure against the pull of fish and to follow sudden runs, and flexible tip for delicate lure manipulation.

Catching large fish with lightweight lures [SC81-80G HIRAMASA]

In recent years, casting for yellowtail has become more and more heated. At the same time, it also creates severe conditions. It is also necessary to respond to changes in the environment, such as baits being preyed upon. The SC81-80G HIRAMASA, a new spec model of SINPAA by ZENAQ, is based on the concept of “catching monster yellowtail with a lightweight lure. Katsumi Yamamoto of D-CLAW, a ZENAQ field staff member and an expert on the yellowtail casting game who was involved in the development of SINPAA, said, “The reason why we created this model is because we wanted to make a lure that is lightweight and can be used to catch monster yellowtail.
The reason why we created this model is because SINPAA’s SC83-95G has a wide range of applications
It is a rod that can cast light to heavy lures, but when the yellowtail are eating small sardines or small squid, sometimes you have to lower the size of the lure to accommodate them. There are also times when other boats are ahead of you in the point and the pressure is on and you want to lower your line and attack with a lower lure size. This is the rod that comes into play at such times, and it is the best model to use with lures ranging from about 40g (14-16cm) to around 70g (20cm), with a reel number 10000 or 14000, PE No. 5 or No. 6 line, and 80-150lb leader.”
When casting for yellowtail, there are sometimes situations where you have to throw the lure at a headwind. The rod was designed to have a low trajectory and swing through the water even in such a situation, while being easy to handle light line and nimble enough to control the lure delicately with its ultra-flexible tip, while also being able to face large fish.
In our tests, we caught many fish in the 20kg class, and even a 35kg fish with this rod. This model is as strong as the SC83-95G in butt power, while being easy to handle lightweight lures.

New SC83-95G HIRAMASA is now even more refined!

The SINPAA83 HIRAMASA has been used to catch many large yellowtail since its release in 2021, but the new SC83-95G HIRAMASA is a new model with improved performance to respond to the ever-evolving yellowtail game. The SC83-95G HIRAMASA is the model to use when you need to play the power game, such as when fishing in shallow roots or at “the point” where the big one is migrating, and its deep feel makes it the ideal first cast for casting for yellowtail.

Casting for yellowtail is a difficult task in many situations where casting for sunfish requires a long casting distance. The length of 83 was chosen because it is the best length for the height of the boat, the height to the sea surface, and the ease of handling the lure after a hit. The butt power is inherited to suppress the running of the yellowtail when it hits shallow water, while the tip is designed to be slightly softer for easier action with diving pencils, poppers, and the like.

The major change in this model is the adoption of ZENAQ’s unique hexagonal reel seat. This reel seat is also used in the aforementioned SC81-80G HIRAMASA, but with its unique grip shape and special rubber texture, this innovative reel seat allows anglers to feel as if they are holding the reel in their hands. This makes it possible to operate the reel with just a light grip. This makes it easier to grasp the movement of the lure and changes in the tide without unnecessary force. In addition, the guide setting has been slightly revised, and the guide winding method has also been renewed. Compared to the previous SINPAA83 HIRAMASA model, the SINPAA83 HIRAMASA is sharper, easier to swing, more stable casting, and easier to use. Casting for yellowtail requires a lot of casting. The SC83-95G HIRAMASA is equipped with these features and is a rod that will be a strong ally of anglers.

In addition to ZENAQ’s unique hexagonal shape, the reel seat is wrapped in a special rubber that is optimally hard and does not deteriorate due to hydrolysis. The hold feels as if it is absorbed by the hand, allowing the rod to be held with little effort.

As with the previous model, ZENAQ’s unique assist guide is mounted just below the top guide. This eliminates string tangling in the top guide and reduces problems when casting or inputting action in strong winds.

ZENAQ’s original “irregular hexagonal” front grip is designed to fit the “shape of the fingers when gripped”. It fits in the palm of the hand without blurring. It is expected to reduce fatigue as well as improve operability.

The rod end has been changed to a rubber that is less prone to breakage and slippage even under heavy use.
