INDEX
Tackle selection that sets you apart from others
Light jigging is an easy offshore game that can be enjoyed easily, but the fields where it is easy to catch fish just because it is light jigging are becoming fewer and fewer every year. However, the number of anglers is constantly increasing, and tackle selection is an important factor, as well as technique, when trying to stand out from other anglers and catch fish at times when it is difficult to catch fish. The more one pursues high-sensitivity reels, smooth line passing through guides, jerking techniques that take advantage of jig performance, and high performance rods with sensitivity and flexibility, the more one pursues these factors, the more one will be able to catch fish. The Daiwa [SALTIGA LJ EX], to be released this spring, is a rod that can truly win by jerking under severe conditions.
Pursued performance
The first thing we sought in the SALTIGA LJ EX was “comfortable jerking performance,” which is important in light jigging, “power to go head-to-head with bluefish,” and “good response for a variety of techniques. The model was completed after two years of research and development, with the goal of creating “the best light jigging rod that has never been achieved before. Incidentally, this series was tested and supervised by Mr. Naoki Sumizawa, an expert in light jigging. Mr. Sumizawa pursued the performance he was looking for, conducting repeated tests not only in his hometown of Mie, but also off the coast of Akashi and in Kyushu, and catching numerous targets to bring the series to perfection.

Mr. Naoki Sumizawa, an expert in light jigging, completed this rod after repeated tests in various locations. Mr. Sumizawa sought for the best shaking comfort (comfort), the ability to control jigs as he wanted (maneuverability), hooking power, torque during fighting, and less fatigue even after long hours of use. The SALTIGA LJ EX is packed with all of these features.
Injection of numerous technologies
So, what kind of technology does this rod have? The first thing to note is the use of “AGS” guides, which have become a staple of Daiwa’s LJ rods. This model adopts “AGS” type R guides, and furthermore, the “AGS” is wrapped with CWS, which means that the guides are fixed with carbon cloth parts instead of threads. This leads to weight reduction and maximizes the sensitivity of the AGS guides.
Also, Megatop R is used for the tip section, and the blank section consists of SVF Nano Plus and X45 Full Shield. Megatop R is a combination of Daiwa’s Megatop and the latest carbon material, Toray’s TORAYCA ®️T1100G, using Daiwa’s proprietary manufacturing method. This tip delivers a significant improvement in sensitivity and operability. In addition, the blank section is made of SVF Nanoplus and X45 Full Shield to increase threading rigidity and achieve even higher strength and lighter weight.

In addition, the reel seat features the newly developed Zero Seat. This grip accommodates a variety of gripping styles and is less tiring even after prolonged use, allowing the angler to stay more focused during jerking.

Newly developed Zero Sheet. Rods are sometimes gripped in different ways depending on the situation. Therefore, we designed it according to the expected gripping style. Furthermore, it does not tire easily even if you keep gripping it.

Spinning models feature an air-sensor seat that is lighter, stronger, more sensitive, and easier to use.
Five items for various situations
The lineup consists of a total of five items. The lineup can be roughly divided into two categories: tubular models (solid tips) with high elasticity blanks that provide a supple feel when jerking, and full-solid thrill game models with high strength, high resilience, and slimness. Four bait models and one spinning model provide high-dimensional response to a wide range of fields, targets, and fishing methods.
Hybrid Response Bait Model [62HB-S]
This H-power model features a nimble feel that allows anglers to experience the real thrill of light jigging. It can be used for one-pitch jerking with short or semi-long jigs, and for natural action like swimming a jig. The tubular construction also provides high sensitivity, enabling the angler to accurately convey underwater information such as current changes and the tracking of targets.
