Equipped with new Arma Boost!

Increased casting distance and improved casting stability, Equipped with new movement! Shimano [Gravitator 220SF]

In the salt scene, Shimano's jointed big plugs are expanding to sea bass, flounder, and offshore games. In 2022, Shimano introduced the Arma Joint 2022, which is equipped with a unique mechanism called Arma Boost and has brought stable flying distance to these lures, which used to be a negative factor for their lack of flying distance. It was well received by many anglers. The “Gravitator,” which produces a gliding action, was released in 2025. Equipped with another Arma Boost, it is a model with evolved action and casting performance. We would like to explore its secrets in this issue.

Increased casting distance and improved casting stability, Equipped with new movement! Shimano [Gravitator 220SF]

Effective on a variety of targets, the Gravitator 220SF produces a different action than the previous Arma Boost models.

Pursuit of jointed bait movement and long casting performance

Gravitator 220 SF is an evolved version of the Glide bait with a new Arma Boost. The goal of this lure was to achieve a wide range of glide action and casting performance. The Arma Boost feature of the Armor Joint reduces aerodynamic drag, which is a weak point when casting jointed baits, by compactly folding the body when casting, and overcomes body rotation when casting. This jointed plug has succeeded in providing a more stable casting posture and long casting performance. Its ability to produce more seductive movements has been highly evaluated by many anglers.

However, in order to produce a more seductive movement, it is sometimes better to limit the range of motion to a certain extent. The conventional armor joints are folded to widen the range of motion, so while they can produce a lustrous movement, it is difficult to produce a movement like that of a lure with a restricted range of motion. Therefore, development of a new Arma boost was started. The result is Gravitator 220 SF.

Gravitator 220F, with its flattened form, appeals to anglers with its volume and large gliding action from side to side.

A new mechanism for new distance and movement.

The joint of Gravitator 220 SF, the secret of the new Arma Boost is the use of magnetic force. Centrifugal force applied during casting causes the body to separate back and forth. The separation causes the plates at the joint to slide up and down. This quickly folds the body, reducing aerodynamic drag and enhancing long casting performance. Then, when the body is extended by landing on the water, the front and rear bodies are drawn together by magnetic force and adhere to each other, fixing the front and rear of the body in place. This fixation limits the range of motion at the joints, which produces a large gliding action. The action is a semicircular meandering motion created by a reeling jerk. With this new mechanism, the lure has the ability to fly long distances in a stable, straight line and has a movement that stimulates the lateral line of the get pushed strongly through the water, which attracts the target. This model has potential for seabass, bass, and monster fish from overseas, as well as for offshore targets. It is also good to use it in combination with the Arma Joint.

Customized parts are included as standard equipment.

The Gravitator 220 SF comes with a wide variety of custom parts. There are two types of fins that attach to the back: short fins and long fins. This allows range adjustment. The short fin allows anglers to trace a range of 30 cm below the surface, while the long fin allows anglers to trace a range of 60 cm below the surface. If the long fin is not attached, the angler can trace the surface layer of the water.

A joint pad can be attached to the joint. By attaching the joint pad to the rear side, the angle of the body’s flexing is suppressed, allowing the angler to create an action with a wider sliding range. The tail, which is the key to the action, is specially designed. A replacement tail is also included.

In addition, the lower jaw is equipped with a multi-eye. A weight can be set here to change the range of the lure, and an assist hook can be attached to increase the hooking rate.

A total of eight colors are available. The colors have been developed based on the experience of experts.
