Appears in fields all over the country and in all situations!

Light, sensitive and easy to follow! TENRYU’s tubular tai rubber rods! Four new models have been added to the Red Flip series!

The tilefish game has now spread across the country, and some boats and regions are still using tai-rubber regardless of the season. In the best season, the red sea bream are very active and respond reasonably well to tie-laba, but the performance of the tackle is often required in difficult times. In summer and autumn 2024, four new models were added to TENRYU's Red Flip tai-rubber rods to meet these conditions.

Light, sensitive and easy to follow! TENRYU’s tubular tai rubber rods! Four new models have been added to the Red Flip series!

The long-standing and popular Red Flip series

There are many areas where tai-rubber game can be enjoyed. In areas where tilefishing is popular, tilefish boats are out on the water almost all year round. However, there are situations where it is not easy to catch fish due to the influence of water temperature and the high pressure caused by being attacked day after day. The TENRYU Red Flip rod series introduced here is a tubular rod series created for enjoying tie-laba and tai-jigging throughout Japan. The line-up is designed for a variety of situations, such as the way the boat is running, the depth of the water, hooking methods, etc., and to be able to read the ever-changing patterns. The Red Flip was renewed in 2023. In 2024, four new models were added to the line-up to further widen the range of fishing techniques and to improve the results of the fishing experience.

First of all, to explain the overall performance of the Red Flip, the blank is TENRYU’s signature tubular specification. Generally, tubular blanks are light and highly sensitive. On the other hand, solid blanks are often used when trying to get short bites from red sea bream to bite. However, TENRYU dares to use only tubular lures in the Red Flip line-up. The bite and follow-up performance is achieved by injecting the unique technology of a blank manufacturer. One of these technologies is the Magnaflex method (carbon flex method). This is a technology that allows carbon with different modulus of elasticity to be processed into a tubular shape for each session, making it possible to form a solid-like tip for tie-ruba rods with good bite while seeking lightness and sensitivity. All models also feature C-N-T, a technology in which C-N-T particles are inserted between the fibres and the resin that holds them together, enhancing the bond between the fibres. This gives the blanks a higher tenacity and strength. In addition, the guides are carefully selected to be the best size for each model. Red Flip is a series that TENRYU has thoroughly pursued to make it easier for anglers to use, to catch more fish and to enjoy tilefishing more.

The design has a subdued look that is typical of TENRYU. When all the new models are released, the line-up will comprise a total of 10 models, which can be used for tie-laba fishing in various areas throughout Japan, as well as for active conditions for red sea bream.

TENRYU’s C-N-T (carbon nanotube) technology, which increases the tenacity and strength of the blank; C-N-T particles penetrate between the carbon fibres and the resin that holds the fibres together, increasing the bond between the fibres and giving them strength.

The Magnaflex process (carbon flex process) processes carbon with different modulus of elasticity into a tubular shape for each session. Generally, tubulars are used for sensitivity and solids for supple bend, but this manufacturing method enables a tubular rod with sensitivity but a solid-like tip with good bite.

Guide diameters are set for each rod to ensure lightness, good thread release, comfort of winding without shaking, and the effect of debris on the guides.

RF642B-UL/VDN, a vertical deep-riding rod

RF642B-UL/VDN’ is the best model for vertical fishing at depths up to 100m (1,000ft) and for “riding” fishing in slow and reluctant current conditions. For vertical fishing with 30-100g, and for dotella fishing with 150g. Tubular blank made of Magnaflex, low-modulus carbon in tip and medium-modulus carbon from belly to butt, tubular but as soft as solid blank To catch the bite of reluctant target fish. The RF5101B-UL/VSN model with the same power is available in the existing line-up, but this model is best suited for fishing in deep water mainline channels in the open sea on the Sea of Japan and Pacific Ocean sides, or in the Inland Sea, etc. The length of the rod makes it possible to catch large fish. In addition, its length makes it easy to use on larger vessels.

RF6102B-L/DN by Doterra Riding

The RF6102B-L/DN is a model that can be used in reluctant situations, such as when fishing a large area with doteras and getting a lot of short bites. It can be used with vertical lures from 45 to 140g and with dotella lures up to 250g. This model is ideal for targeting deep water with doteras. Blanks made of Magnaflex, with low-modulus carbon in the tip and medium-modulus carbon from the belly to the butt. The high sensitivity of the carbon tubular material is utilised to the maximum, and the high follow-up action absorbs the boat’s vibration, enabling a stable retrieve to lead to bites. The guide diameter is set slightly larger from the top guide to eliminate guide blockage caused by dust and jellyfish adhering to the line when a lot of line is put out with the doterra. Incidentally, the RF6102B-MH/DK is a conventional model of the same dotella, but this is recommended for fishing in shallow water at depths of around 50m, including fall bites. On the other hand, the RF6102B-L/DN is the best model for fishing in shallow water at depths of around 50m, where you need to get the snapper to bite firmly and let them on the hook. It is also compatible with small electric reels.

RF652S-L/CN’ for casting and riding

The RF652S-L/CN is a model for casting with a spinning reel over a wide area. It is designed to pick up bites from nervous targets floating in shallow or middle water, and can be used for casting to attract fish horizontally, and for vertical retrieve methods with medium to high speed retrieve. Vertical weight 45-120g, cast up to 60g. Made with Magnaflex, mainly composed of low-modulus carbon in the tip section and medium-modulus carbon from the belly to the butt, specialising in casting and riding action. Regular tone makes it hard to play bites, and allows the angler to firmly place the lure on the water, making it difficult for the lure to break apart during fighting. Small-diameter butt guide to prevent shaking of the rod when reeling in, enabling the angler to pull the rod straight and firmly. The existing casting model ‘RF672S-ML/CK’ is a hanging tone model with a belly that has a certain degree of tension. On the other hand, the new RF652S-L/CN model is designed to bring the angler to the hook without missing even the smallest bite. This model is useful in situations where the lure easily responds to lateral movements when in low activity.

The long-riding ‘RF772B-L/LN’ model

The longest model in the Red Flip line-up for ‘riding’ the current, which is useful when fishing in complex tidal fields such as straits. Previously, the Red Flip had a longer model in its line-up. When it was renewed in 2023, a longer model was not added to the line-up, but it was introduced as an additional model in response to user requests. The long blank absorbs the rocking of the boat and its length enables stable reeling to attract fish in currents that enter the bottom of the boat. Powerful blanks also allow the angler to use ties with strong wave action, which is very popular these days. Despite its power, the tip section is delicately designed to catch short bites and follow them up firmly after they strike. Suitable for vertical tie-liners from 45 to 140g, and up to 250g for doteras. The rod is constructed mainly with Magnaflex, low-modulus carbon in the tip section and medium-modulus carbon from the belly to the butt. The previous model did not contain C-N-T, but the new model uses C-N-T, which enables it to float smoothly against large sea bream. At first glance, this rod looks special, but it is also an all-rounder rod. This model is scheduled for release in October 2024.

There are many different tie-lava rods on the market. The reason for this is that you can get closer to catching fish by choosing a rod that suits the conditions of the field at that time. And the tougher the conditions, the better the rod performance, the better the fishing results. The Red Flip is just such a rod. We hope you will find the best model for your field from the six models released last year and the four models in this issue.
