I wanted a thin down middle layer

If only I had the ideal middle layer. Rain would be a winter coat!

Shimano has released a down middle layer that many anglers have been hoping to sell. Its middle layers, the Tech Down Jacket and Hybrid Down Pants, are the result of listening to anglers' voices. With these, you can layer them with rainwear to create the strongest waterproof and warm clothing.

If only I had the ideal middle layer. Rain would be a winter coat!

High-quality down is used in both the jacket and pants

Yes, anglers are looking for a lightweight mid-layer made of high-quality down! After all, down is warm! But fuzzy down can get in the way of every fishing movement. They want something with a tight design, yet stretchable. Shimano’s Tech Down Jacket and Hybrid Down Pants are the answer to these anglers’ needs.

The down used in both jackets and pants is high-quality 800FP white duck down. Many inexpensive down has an odor, but this is not the case.

A simple yet feature-packed jacket for fishing

Since this is a mid-layer jacket (and of course can be worn as an outer layer), the best design is a simple one. If you wear this with Rain, which is the strongest in waterproof and breathability, it will surely be a perfect warm-weather garment. A thick middle layer may be too tight to wear under the rain jacket you are using. In this respect, a thin middle layer can be worn at any time.

Of course, it is quite different from a down middle layer for street wear. It is made based on a fishing concept.
The most important feature is the treatment of the shoulder area, which requires the widest possible range of motion for fishing. Most down mid-layers for street wear are stressful when fishing because of the sticking feeling in this area.

The sodae area, which tends to get wet when rain comes in or when washing hands, is made of a padded material that is resistant to wetness and dries easily, instead of down. The lining is made of a material that is smooth and easy to move around in, to reduce the sticking feeling. The shoulders, which are subject to rubbing when wearing bib pants or a rijakke, are made of a material that is resistant to friction. The waistband is made of a stretch binder that conforms to the body to keep warm air from leaking out and to prevent the fabric from slipping up. It also prevents the grip end from snagging when operating the rod when worn as an outer layer. This is a down mid-layer jacket that is nothing short of amazing.

The underarm areas have an adjustable amount of down for ease of movement. The intricate cutting around the shoulders allows for stress-free arm movement.

The jacket is lined with a high-tech carbon fiber heat-storing material. Moreover, it has good sliding properties so it does not interfere with innerwear.

The sodé part is made of a padded material that is resistant to wetness and dries easily. The sode mouth is shirred with elastic so that it can be easily rolled up to the elbow. It would be stressful if this part is too thin and not wide enough!

Stretch binder on the bottom of the sole. When worn as an outer layer, it prevents the grip end from snagging when operating the rod.

Shoulder part is made of different material for durability. The design around the neck makes it difficult to feel stiffness and does not cause stress when wearing a neck warmer or windproof mask.

Includes pockets for storing small items you want to wear. The zipper makes it safe to use.

Down where needed. Great comfort.

Hybrid Down Pants are tight fitting and designed to be worn inside rainwear (also good as innerwear for waders). So there is zero stress when wearing them under rain pants!

The buttocks and thighs, where warmth is needed, are down. The inseam and knee area, where ease of movement is most important, are made of a hybrid design with stretch material for ease of movement. In addition, the knees are made of a highly abrasion-resistant material for fishing activities that often require kneeling.

Tight silhouette with excellent stretchability. When wearing rain pants or bib pants, the tightness allows them to slip in when worn, and the stretchiness below the knees eliminates the feeling of sticking out. The waist can be easily adjusted with elastic straps.

The knee portion is made of a different material that is resistant to abrasion. Stretch knit in the crotch and below the knees for easy movement.

Zippered pockets on both sides for peace of mind.
