The versatile Mach III Hiramasa(yellowtail amberjack) model
Angler-friendly yellowtail amberjack Jigging Rod
Zenith's jigging rod, MACH (Mach) III, is supported by a wide range of anglers as a bluefish jigging rod. This rod has gained popularity as a model that allows the rod to work to its maximum potential, based on the concept of not getting tired even when repeatedly jerking all day long. The ZEROSHIKI MACH V-Spec series follows the concept of the MACH III and targets bluefish with even more intense power. Some of the models in this series can be used for jig casting, which has been attracting attention in recent years, and we would like to explore them here.
INDEX
Longer cork grip for improved maneuverability
The MACH III is highly regarded among veteran anglers as a rod that does not have an extreme rod action, does not put a physical burden on the angler, bends firmly to prevent fish from breaking up, and floats fish without strain. Based on this rod, the V-Spec was released to target bluefish with a higher grade of power.
The difference from MACH III is a 10% increase in butt power. The new rod is designed for fighting at high drag values when targeting the root zone, which has been a popular target for sunfish in recent years, and the blank material has been changed to increase the power.
Furthermore, while EVA grips are at the height of their popularity, a cork grip was purposely chosen to maximize the feel and bend of the blanks. The cork grip was also an icon of MACH III, but the V-Spec has a longer rear grip than that of MACH III to make it easier to maneuver when the rear grip is tucked under the arm, but also to avoid stress when fighting with the rod end against the belly.
The highlight of this model is its 68-length jig-casting model, which can be used for jig casting!
The most noteworthy feature of this model is that it can be used for jig casting, which has become popular in recent years for anglers targeting sunfish. The two models are the ZMV-S68M and ZMV-S68MH.
The ZMV-S68M is designed for casting jigs up to about 150g, and is used for targeting sunfish feeding on small baits in shallow areas.
ZMV-S68MH is a model specialized for jigging for sunfish, which is done on pleasure boats in the Hirado – Kami-Goto area. The length of the rod is 6’8”, which is neither a casting rod nor a jigging rod, and is designed for easy jig casting. The action combines a soft tip with a strong butt, allowing anglers to handle jigs delicately, yet still having strong butt power.
