Equipped with 3 types of tips

Renewed and introduced as the third generation! Enjoy jigging in coastal waters even more [HORIZON LJ]

TENRYU's new offshore series for 2025, HORIZON LJ, covers a wide range of light jigging in inshore waters, allowing anglers to reliably catch fish bites, enjoy the pull, and catch fish. All models have been renewed and are now on sale. The series consists of eight items. Three different tip models are available depending on the model: Magnaflex Glass Tubular, Magnaflex Low Modulus Carbon Tubular, and Carbon Tubular, making them easier to use.

Renewed and introduced as the third generation! Enjoy jigging in coastal waters even more [HORIZON LJ]

Popular Models Renewed

The first Horizon LJ was introduced in 2012 as a light jigging rod, and due to its reputation and popularity, it was renewed and introduced in 2016. The Magnaflex tubular glass tip was ideal for super light jigging, which at the time was spreading all over Japan, making this model even more popular and attracting attention. In 2025, the new model will be released in a total of eight items, with even greater ease-of-use and refinement.

The new models are characterized by the use of three different types of tips, each designed to demonstrate the rod performance of a different model. Three different types of tips are available: Magnaflex Glass Tubular, Magnaflex Low Modulus Carbon Tubular, and Carbon Tubular.

Model and characteristics of each tip

First, the Magnaflex Glass Tubular tip models are used in four bait models. The tip part is made of flexible and delicate glass material, and the middle part is made of carbon material using the Magnaflex manufacturing method. This allows for delicate jig manipulation and performance that prevents anglers from missing bites. When jigging for seabass or hairtail, which often get bites on the fall, it is possible to catch the bite and bring it to the hooking point. It also absorbs the initial velocity of a jerking lure, allowing the angler to manipulate the jig without causing it to jerk around unnecessarily. It can be used not only for sea bass and hairtail, but also for jigging for cherry salmon, yellowtail in the bay, and good size bluefish.

Horizon LJ can be used for a wide range of light jigging targets in coastal waters; the bait model uses a delicate Magnaflex glass tubular tip to produce a delicate and more natural jig action, and also has the performance to catch a bite on the fall and bring about a successful catch.

The Magnaflex Glass Tubular allows the different materials, glass and carbon, to blend together naturally. On the other hand, the Magnaflex low-modulus carbon tubular combines different elasticity of carbon to create a tubular but sensitive and biting tip performance like a solid rod.

Horizon LJ bait model is suitable for fishing with many fall bites.

Magnaflex low-modulus carbon tubular is also used in one spinning model, the HLJ642S-FLL. This model uses a blank made of low-modulus carbon in the tip section, followed by medium-modulus carbon and then high-modulus carbon, with the material changing from one to the other. This model is ideal for super light jigging, targeting Japanese common squid and various other fish with small jigs. Low-modulus carbon tip prevents line tangling at the tip when casting a little, and the use of mid-modulus and high-modulus carbon makes it easy to handle jigs. The guides are larger than those of the previous model, allowing for better line release when casting jigs. Furthermore, the grip has been designed longer than the previous model, making it easier to cast with the grip end and to fight with it between the sides when fighting with unexpectedly large fish.

This model is designed more specifically for super light jigging fishing, with a Magnaflex low-modulus carbon tubular tip. However, while being an ideal model for super light jigging, it is also tenacious enough to handle bluefish such as yellowtail. This is the model to try when bluefish are reluctant to bite.

The guide is larger than the previous model. The guides are larger than those of the previous model, allowing for better line release when casting.

The other three spinning models are equipped with carbon tubular tips. These models emphasize sensitivity and operability. In addition to the usual one-pitch action, this model can be used for a wide range of enticing actions, such as jerking and short pitch jerking. This model also has a longer grip, making it easy to pump straight between the sides when a big fish hits. Ideal for trendy negging, it can also be used for a wide range of bluefish in coastal waters.

Three spinning models with a carbon tubular tip provide sharp jig movements, sensitivity to grasp what is going on in the water, and power.

Carbon tubular tip models are also ideal for negging with spinning tackle.

All models have TENRYU’s original C-N-T (carbon nanotube) composite in the butt section, an ultra-fine material that is lighter than aluminum and stronger than steel. C-N-T is an ultra-fine material that is lighter than aluminum and stronger than steel. It is inserted between the resin that holds the carbon fibers together, thereby enhancing the bond between the fibers. This structure increases the tenacity and strength. The Horizon LJ also has a tenacity that threatens to overwhelm even light tackle.

TENRYU’s unique Nishijin-ori carbon parts are used for a luxurious feel.

Incidentally, TENRYU has a lineup of rods for inshore jigging, Jig-Zam, and there is also a model for inshore jigging in the Horizon LJ lineup. However, they are not the same. The difference is in the line class used. Even if the fish is the same size, there is a difference between using Horizon LJ to face the fish with a thinner line, or using Jig-Zam with a line thicker than LJ to compete at once. There is also the Horizon MJ, which can be used for a wide range of high and slow pitches. The more items you can select and the more ways you can attack, the more chances you will have to encounter fish.

The grips are Fuji Kogyo’s DPS (18) for spinning. It is sized to accommodate a large reel, allowing for strategies that dare to use a large reel. The bait model has a PULS seat. Both spinning and bait models have an extended rear length. It is easier to catch fish on the side of the lure.

Details of each item

Magnaflex Glass Tubular Model

Bait model H LJ 612B-FM

Bait model H LJ 622B-FML
Easy handling of metal jigs weighing 100 to 180g at depths of 100m or less, and can be used with metal jigs weighing up to 200g and swordfish tennas up to No. 40. An all-rounder that can be used in a wide range of fields from shallow to deep water.

Bait model H LJ 632B-FL
Easy to handle metal jigs weighing 80 to 150g at depths of 100m or less, with a maximum jig weight of 180g. Glass-tubed tip captures even the slightest bite without causing any discomfort. Ideal for delicate games in shallow ranges and for targeting big fish in deeper areas with less jig movement.

Bait model H LJ 642B-FLL
Easy to handle metal jigs weighing 60 to 120g at depths of 80m or less, with a maximum jig weight of 150g. Delicate glass-tubed tip model that does not miss even the slightest bite. Good at super light jigging in vertical direction and delicate jerking with less jig movement.

Magnaflex low-modulus carbon tubular tip model

Spinning H LJ 642S-FLL
Easy to handle 60-120g metal jigs at depths of 80m or less, and can handle up to 150g metal jigs. Low modulus carbon tubular tip makes it difficult to miss delicate bites and provides good biting performance. As with other spinning models, the rear grip is longer than the previous model, but slightly shorter than other models, making it easier to cast underhand and allowing anglers to search shallow areas more widely.

Carbon tubular tip model
